Gutter Repairs & Leaking Gutters In Leicester

A gutter that drips from one spot is nearly always a failed joint, and one that spills over the front is usually blocked or has lost its fall. We find which it is before quoting, run water through the repaired gutter to check it drains, and photograph the work. If the only problem is moss and leaves, a gutter clean in Leicester is the cheaper fix, and we'll say so.

Leicester has 25 conservation areas, covering the medieval core, Victorian suburbs and former village centres, and original rainwater goods are getting harder to find in them. The council's June 2022 character appraisal of the West End conservation area notes that some cast iron rainwater goods survive, at Bradgate House, 22–24 Fosse Road South and the Grade II listed Sykefield House, where the square sections give them away. It adds that most have been replaced by uPVC that lacks the detailing and quality of the originals. The Loughborough Road appraisal calls cast-iron gutters and downpipes "also important" to that area's character.

If your house is one of Leicester's more than 400 listed buildings, the council's heritage guidance says listed building consent is needed for changes to doors, windows, roofs or gutters. Article 4 directions vary from one conservation area to the next. The council also offers small heritage building grants for external repairs or reinstating historic features on listed buildings, local heritage assets and historic homes in conservation areas.
