No-Dig Drain Relining In Leicester

Drain lining in Leicester (LE1–LE5) repairs cracked, leaking and root-damaged drains from the inside, without digging up drives, patios or gardens. We survey the pipe with a CCTV camera first, then fit a full-length liner or a patch liner where the defect is, and record the pipe again afterwards. Every lining job is quoted in writing after the survey, and our engineers are about 55 minutes from our Southwell base.

Lining suits a pipe that is cracked, has open or displaced joints, or lets roots in, but still holds its shape. A pipe that has collapsed or dropped out of line can't be lined and needs digging out; that's a drain repair in Leicester, and the survey footage shows you which you need.

Before we quote, we check who owns the pipe. Shared and lateral drains in Leicester are normally Severn Trent Water's responsibility; call Severn Trent on 0800 783 4444. If the damaged section is yours, many buildings insurance policies cover accidental damage to underground pipes, and our report supports a claim.

Local Knowledge: Drain Lining In Leicester

Of Leicester's post-war build periods, 1955–64 was the busiest. Valuation Office Agency figures for March 2025 put 14,600 of the city's 145,410 homes in that band, compared with 8,000 in 1945–54 and 7,840 in 1965–72. Another 13,460 date from 1973–82. Eyres Monsell is one example: about 2,500 houses went up there between 1946 and 1959, making it Leicester's second-largest post-war estate. Under right to buy, proportionally more of its council homes have been bought by their tenants than elsewhere in the city, so many of those drains now belong to private owners.

Pitch fibre was still in use well into that period. In 1978 the Transport and Road Research Laboratory published a guide to designing and laying small underground drains in flexible materials, and the two it dealt with were uPVC and pitch pipes up to 300mm. Pitch fibre can blister and flatten with age, and clay pipes of the same era crack and open at the joints.

Drain lining can deal with most of it without digging. After a CCTV survey and jet clean, we fit a patch liner over a single defect or a full-length cured-in-place liner along a run with several. Badly deformed pitch fibre is re-rounded first or, if the camera shows it can't be saved, dug out and replaced. Relining is quoted after the survey, and the lined pipe is filmed again when we finish.

Drain Lining Leicester: FAQs

Often, yes. If the pipe still has most of its round shape, it can be cleaned, re-rounded where needed and lined. If it has collapsed or flattened badly, that section usually has to be dug out and replaced. A camera survey shows which applies before you're quoted.

It depends on the pipe diameter, how many metres need lining, and whether a patch or a full-length liner is right. We quote in writing after a CCTV survey, so the price is based on the actual defect, and there's no call-out fee.

For a pipe that still holds its shape, a structural liner gives a new, joint-free pipe inside the old one without excavation. Our lining and patch repairs carry a 12-month workmanship guarantee, and we record the pipe on camera once it's done.

No. A collapsed pipe, a badly displaced joint or a pipe that has lost its fall needs excavating. The survey shows this before you commit to anything.
